This was the first conversation I’ve had with my deck, despite having owned it for at least four years. I have a bad habit of buying things to have them, but never actually using them.

This is a spread I just call my “conversation” spread, and it consists of five questions that build off one another. I’m super new to this, so rather than deal with any formalized spreads, I just ask my cards questions and they give me answers.

1. Should I even be doing this [witchcraft]?

The Lovers – can represent actual lovers, friends, promises, or a choice. I got the feeling from this card that it was a show of support, encouragement as if from a friend.

2. I don’t even know where to begin.

Knight of Chalices – I had to look this one up. Most of its messages also have to do with love, but it can also be an invitation, and reversed I read this as an invitation I’ve been refusing thus far.

3. Do you want to help me?

Knight of Wands – This one was fairly easy to read– enthusiasm, and also impatience.

4. Will I ever be any good at this?

Temperance – I’ve always thought of this as “my” card, so I was pleased to see it here. It can represent patience, progress through a transformation, reflection, and adaptation.

5. I just need to figure out what to do.

Eight of Pentacles – I associate this card with hard work and diligence, which tells me all I need to know about what I should be doing.

I was honestly surprised to have such a clear reading. A lot of that doubt that plagues me was hanging over this reading, but in spite of everything it all made sense. I want to do more with my cards, but I don’t really know what.
